The Great Wolf Lodge is a popular indoor water park resort that has several locations throughout the United States. The first one originated in Wisconsin Dells, which calls itself the “indoor water park capital of the world.” Today, a Great Wolf Lodge can be found in the Poconos, Virginia, and Ohio.
Although all of the water parks are just a little bit different, there are some features that they all have in common. The lodges all appear to look like lodges from the outside, for starters. They usually have giant fieldstone fireplaces in their lobbies, have a rustic look to them, and have rooms with names like “Wolf Den.”
You can be assured that the water parks have will have some signature features as well, no matter what location you visit. The Bear Track Landing is the prominent indoor water park. It has a toddler pool, water slides, a wave pool, and other features. You can also find Fort MacKenzie with a tree house that has a fountain, a water bucket, spray guns, and hoses.
The Howling Tornado is another prominent feature at the water parks. This is a 6 story funnel tube slide. Raccoon Lagoon, or sometimes called Loon Lagoon, is an outside feature that is seasonal and only located at a couple of the properties. It has water basketball, geysers, and sprayers.
The water parks are only available to guests of the Lodge. Room rates can vary by season, but they tend to be on the expensive side. There are ways of cutting down the cost of your stay, however. Some discounts are available that can make visiting the Great Wolf Lodge easier on your wallet.
A recent Winterfest package that is advertised on their website includes accommodations in one of their suites, passes to the water park, and crafts and activities in the Cub Club. The advertised price is $169 per night. The Spring Break Blast package offers a similar deal, but for only $149 per night. Both offers are based on 4 guests. Additional guests might incur additional fees, depending on their ages.
In September when the kids head back to school, some of the lodges offer “Wolf Pup Weeks.” These are for families that have toddlers. Rates include a stay at the lodge, passes to the water park, character buffet breakfasts, and other discounts.
Sometimes, various other outside websites will have coupon codes that may or may not work on the Great Wolf Lodge websites. You might have to search around for these, but if you are able to find one that works, you could get significant savings. Basically, the coupons are codes that are sometimes given out to corporate partners or as incentives. People will then post them on the internet for other people to find and use.
Even at $169 per night, the Great Wolf Lodges can be an inexpensive means of entertaining your family. Considering that some water parks are as much as $40 per person to visit, you’re actually already getting a deal since you get a room in the process.
