If you’re going to Disney World for vacation, then more than likely you want to stay near the parks themselves. The Disney resorts, however, can be pricey and eat up a good chunk of your vacation budget. Some of them go for more than $300 per night. If you need more than one room for your stay, that can get real expensive real fast.

So what can you do?

There are a variety of Florida hotels located in and around the Orlando area that are not Disney affiliated that offer great prices and good amenities. In fact, they are often much cheaper than the Disney hotels and even offer more. If you don’t mind driving a little distance to the Disney parks, then these can be a good alternative.

If you still want to stay at one of the Disney properties, however, then there are some cheaper options than some of the major resorts.

The Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is a large hotel that salutes some of Disney’s most famous movies including The Mighty Ducks, Fantasia, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Love Bug, and Toy Story. Located bear the Animal Kingdom and the Wide World of Sports Complex, the resort features a food court, arcade, childcare services, pizza delivery, self-parking, satellite televisions, in-room refrigerator, laundry facilities and 2 swimming pools.

A complimentary bus service is available to take you to the Disney parks and rates start at less than $90 per night.

Another option is the Disney All-Star Music Resort. This resort revolves around country, calypso, Broadway show tunes, rock, and jazz. Family suites start at $184 per night and will sleep up to 6 people.

Aside from the 2 swimming pools, the resort also features an arcade, food court, poolside bar, pizza delivery, shopping, satellite television, in-room refrigerator, childcare services, laundry facilities, and internet access. They also have a walking and jogging trail and complimentary transportation available to the Disney parks.

The Disney Pop Century Resort is a larger hotel and pays homage to the pop culture references of the 20th century. It is conveniently located near the Boardwalk Area, Hollywood Studios, Epcot Center, and the Wide World of Sports Complex.

There are 3 swimming pools at this resort, a food court, arcade, playground, lounge, concierge desk, Internet access, pizza delivery, childcare services, laundry facility, and self-parking.

The Disney All-Star Sports Resort starts at $82 per night and its theme carries out into the decorations which include tennis, basketball, football, surfing, and baseball. It also features the same amenities as the other resorts, along with 2 swimming pools.

For just a little bit more, the Disney Port Orleans Resort-French Quarter starts out at $149 per night. It is located near the Boardwalk Area, Downtown Disney, and Epcot Center. It is basically a recreation of the famous French Quarter in New Orleans and for a few minutes, you might even forget that you are in Florida.

The swimming pool area features a water slide that looks like a giant sea serpent. You can also find 2 lounges, an onsite restaurant, jogging trail, laundry facilities, satellite television, internet access, and self-parking.

If you still want to stay at one of the Disney properties instead of one of the other Florida hotels in the area, then there are cheap options to be found. If you are spending the bulk of your time enjoying the parks, you might not need much in the way of amenities when it comes to your hotel room anyway, although the pool could be a welcomed respite from the Florida heat.
