You have probably seen extended stay hotels advertised before, but what are they and why should you use one?
Extended stay hotels and motels are designed for people who are intending to stay at a destination longer than a normal vacation. They might stay there for a couple of weeks, or even a couple of months, for example.
The hotel rooms themselves are a little more self-sufficient that what most hotel rooms are and can sometimes offer kitchenettes with a lot more space. The sleeping quarters could be separate in an effort to make the hotel appear more “homey.” There are even some extended stay hotels that are really nice and offer suits with living rooms and dining areas.
For the most part, the extended stay hotels are located near business centers and conference centers in order to make them more convenient to those business travelers that use them. Depending on the class of the hotel, it might offer a swimming pool or fitness center, or it might not.
There are several reasons why people prefer staying at an extended stay hotel. Sometimes, a family will stay at one because they like the flexibility of having a kitchen area in order to cook the meals in when they are on vacation. An extended stay hotel can also be pet friendly, meaning that you can bring along the family dog, too.
Other times, people stay at extended stay hotels because they have been displaced from their homes, either by natural disasters or simply because the home is being worked on. The extended stay hotels will offer maid service, free cable, and other amenities that regular hotels offer, but they will also employ some of the comforts of home like stoves and refrigerators.
Business people who are planning to be in town for more than a week or so like staying at extended stay hotels because they are little more personal feeling than hotels and the rates tend to be cheaper on a weekly basis than those that can be found on a nightly basis.
Extended stay motels and extended stay motels differ in the way that hotels and motels typically do. With the motels, you will probably be more likely to find smaller rooms, less amenities, and cheaper rates. However, with the hotels you are more likely to find more amenities, more expensive rates, and larger rooms. It really just depends on your budget.
Extended stay hotels or motels can be a great way to stay at a place if you are planning on being there for a long period of time, or if you want more flexibility when it comes to cooking your own meals in your hotel room. They offer a little more of a home-like setting than most typical hotel rooms and this can be an added incentive if you are away from home often, or if you have children that are staying with you.
