Myrtle Beach is definitely one of the most entertaining places in the southeast. Filled with sand, surf, resorts, restaurants, attractions, and theme parks, there is enough there to keep someone occupied for weeks. Unfortunately, during the peak season when you probably want to visit, the hotel prices can be high enough that you might only be able to stay for a day or two.

Some people manage to cut down on the cost of staying at Myrtle Beach by turning to condo rentals and forgoing the expensive hotels and resorts.

Condo rentals can provide several incentives to those wanting to travel on a budget. Although they can sometimes be pricier than a hotel room, they offer savings in other ways. For one thing, they come with fully equipped kitchens which mean that you can do some of your own cooking. While you might not like the idea of cooking on vacation, even eating just one meal a day in the condo, like lunch, can save you money over time.

In addition, some condo rentals can hold as many as 10 people. If you are traveling with family or friends, you can split the cost of the rental, which brings your overall accommodation cost down. For instance, if the cost of your condo is $150 per night and you are traveling with 5 people, then you can split it 6 ways. This comes to $25 per person per night. If you were to stay at a hotel, however, for $130 per night and you could only get two people per room, then that cost would be $65 per person per night.

Some condos are located right on the beach, meaning that you don’t have to sacrifice location for price. While you won’t get maid service or room service, some do offer swimming pools. The Atlantic Breeze, for instance, is located right on the beach and has an indoor pool, outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, lazy river, washer and dryers in the room, fitness center, and high speed internet access. A 3 bedroom condo in June rents for $1499 per week, but it sleeps 10 people. That is only $149 per person for the entire week.

Visiting in the off season might not let you play in the water, but it will give you cheaper rates. A week in the same condo that goes for $1500 in the summer might only be $500 in the winter. If you just want to get away for a week and hang out by the ocean, this can be a great escape.

The next time you decide to visit Myrtle Beach, consider condo rentals. Some of the condos are nicer than some of the hotels that can be found on the beach. While you might be sacrificing maid service, you shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality and amenities in the process. Plus, you can also save yourself some money and that money can be spent on other fun things-like shows, dinners, and shopping!
