Airlines and Hotels keep you notified on falling rates.

The airlines and hotels need your business really bad.  With the current economy, consumers and struggling to squeeze every penny and the travel industry is dropping prices to stay a-float.  Rates briefly rose in the early summer months, but experts predict that the prices will fall again in the later summer months of August and September. It’s very possible that you will begin to see rates drop as early as early August and prices will be comparable to the ones you saw in the early part of the season with flights at $300 for round-trip tickets from LAX to Dublin.

So the big question is, how do you stay on top of these dropping rates?  Well, first, you can sign up for those free FFPs (frequent flier programs), email alerts and newsletters.  Your inbox will get stuffed with promo codes and coupons.  It’s not uncommon to see 40% – 60% off retails rates via email promotions.

It’s also possible to find deals the old fashion way.  Hotels for example, often offer a special “One dollar” night’s stay after you order a package deal on any of their other hotels or resorts.

You can also score some serious bargains if your travels plans are flexible.  Hotels.com for example has a list of last minute airfares posted every Thursday.  Definitely worth the trouble if you can afford to leave within a week or two!  Priceline also offers deals to those willing to bid on their hotel airfare, rental cars and ocean cruises.
