Finding discount flights online

With various airlines competing for business, there are lots of resources available for you to compare airfares without having to rely on traditional travel agents.

When just starting out, try to find the lowest fares for your trip by visiting popular web sites such as Orbitz.com.  Next, you can start refining your searches by visiting individual airline’s web sites such as Southwest.com, Unitedairlines.com, Jetblue.com, Etc.

When getting your fair quotes online, be sure to include all taxes and fees with your totals.  Sometimes, you could even save a little bit by going directly to the individual airline web site.


Make sure to keep your departure and return dates as flexible as possible to allow you to fudge some of the numbers to find the best possible rates.

If you are flexible, Orbitz will allow you to selects an option for a “flexible date”, which will allow you to find the best possible prices.  Up to three days before or after a specific date.
